Daltonganj, Dec 26: The Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR) is busy getting its four tourists’ cottages ready for occupancy to the tourists at Kechki in 2024.
Interior furnishings are on. The four cottages are G+1. There is one canteen cum cafeteria here. Tent House here is getting furnished for tourists at Kechki.
However, there is a perennial problem with the electricity supply here. Electric poles are there but sans the electricity wires.
PTR Deputy Director (North Division) P K Jena said the issue of bringing in electricity here is a big challenge. “I have been taking up this issue with the concerned officials in Latehar,” he added.

Jena said, “The concerned officials are hopeful of stringing electricity wires. But I understand there is a big and wide river. If the electricity wire stringing is to be done by the river, then I believe I am not the kind of engineer to see this miracle happening. Let electricity engineers do this feat.”
Solar lighting here is just not possible, Jena said. “If it is to have light here, it must be of the electricity,” he asserted.
What if the electricity does not come here? Then, a generator will do this job, which is expensive, noisy, and taxing.
A lady tourist, Sweety Verma, said, “Kechki has enormous potential for eco-tourism. Here, there are two rivers, Koyel and Auranga. The sight of the confluence of the two rivers is just mesmerising.”
She said, “I am a journalist. I believe the locals here may earn more and more if they care for tourists and ensure no harm or inconvenience comes to them.”
