Jamshedpur, Jan 27: The much-anticipated 4th edition of the Tata Steel Sport Climbing Championship got underway at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.

The four-day event hosted by Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) will conclude on January 29.

The championship was inaugurated by Chanakya Chaudhary, vice-president (Corporate Service),Tata Steel last evening.

The championship, to be held at the TSAF Sport Climbing Arena within the JRD Tata Sports Complex, promises to be a thrilling spectacle with the participation of both national and international athletes.

300 athletes

A record-breaking number of over 300 athletes have enthusiastically registered for the championship, making it one of India’s largest climbing events.

The inclusion of athletes from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Nepal alongside their Indian counterparts adds an exciting international dimension to the competition.

Three formats

Featuring competitions in all three formats of sport climbing: Speed Climbing, Lead Climbing, and Bouldering, the championship includes diverse categories such as Kids, Youth A, Youth B, Youth C, Youth D, and Open, catering to both male and female participants.

Over 30 officials from India and abroad have gathered for the championship, underlining its growing prominence on the international climbing circuit.

The TSAF Sport Climbing Arena stands out as one of the premier climbing venues in India, boasting state-of-the-art infrastructure that enhances the overall competition experience.
