Ranchi, Nov 23: The Union Bank Employees Association (UBEA) after a meeting with the management’s regional authorities called off its one-day state-wide strike scheduled today.
A meeting between the state leaders of UBEA and Union Bank of India regional authorities was held under the regional labour commissioner in Ranchi on Wednesday late afternoon. On assurance of the management, the Association leaders agreed to call off the proposed one-day strike on conditions.

At the meeting, All India Union Bank Employees Federation national general secretary Jagganath Chakraborty, UBEA Jharkhand state president Shankar Dayal and UBEA state general secretary ML Singh represented the employees.
UBI deputy zonal head of Ranchi Alok Kumar, and the senior manager (HR) of Ranchi zone represented the management at the meeting.
Union Bank of India Jharkhand State Employees Association general secretary ML Singh said that the response of the management on demands of the association was positive. “So, we decided to call off the strike proposed today across Jharkhand,” he said.
In support of their seven-point long pending demand, the JSUBEA had called state state-wide strike today( November 23) in Jharkhand based all 118 Union Bank of India branches.
Union Bank of India has two regions, Ranchi and Dhanbad, in Jharkhand. The Employees Association had been holding dharna and demonstrations almost every day in Ranchi and Dhanbad for the last three months for implementation of their demands.
Though after the meeting both the association leaders and management officers did not disclose what demands of employees were accepted, sources said the management agreed to follow Jharkhand Bank’s rules and regulations.
