THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK
Ranchi, June 23: Hundreds of B.Tech students from Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT) find themselves in academic limbo as the results of their 2nd semester examinations—held in August 2024—remain unpublished nearly 10 months later. Despite repeated appeals, emails, and reminders to university officials, students claim they have received no concrete response, let alone a result date.
How Long Is Too Long?
“It’s been nearly a year since we wrote that paper,” said Aditya Verma, a final-year B.Tech student, who has been persistently writing to the university on behalf of affected students. “We’ve already completed our 3rd semester, and some are now in the final year—but we still don’t know whether we cleared the 2nd.”
The prolonged delay has not only left students anxious but is also impacting their chances of admission into postgraduate programmes and employment opportunities. For those with backlogs, the uncertainty has become a major source of psychological stress.

Email Trail Highlights Students’ Desperation
A series of emails shared with this publication paint a picture of growing frustration and helplessness. Verma and others have written multiple reminders since June 4, escalating their concerns to the Vice-Chancellor’s office, Registrar, Examination Controller, and even copied in officials from other universities and state authorities.
“JUT is a reputed university, and we expect it to follow its academic calendar,” Verma wrote in one of his messages. “The delay is jeopardising our careers.”
In one earlier response, a university official claimed results had been published and advised students to contact their institutions. However, students reported that no such results had been released, further deepening the confusion.
Our Careers Are at Stake
Many students fear that the loss of a year is imminent, especially for those waiting to clear backlogs or present results for higher education. “Deadlines for admissions in other institutions are closing. We don’t even have transcripts to submit,” said another student who asked to remain anonymous.
University Silent on Timelines
Despite repeated efforts, the university administration has yet to issue any public statement explaining the delay or providing a revised result release date. The opacity surrounding the issue has led some students to consider approaching the media or filing formal complaints with higher authorities.
A Call for Accountability
Students are now demanding that JUT issue an official update immediately, along with a firm timeline for when results will be declared. For many, the wait has gone beyond an inconvenience—it’s now a crisis of credibility for the institution.
