Jamshedpur, August 16:  IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued an alert of heavy rain at several places across Jharkhand in the next 48 hours.

According to the IMD forecast, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over south-western, central and adjoining north-eastern parts of the state during the next two days.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Ganganagar, Rohtak, Delhi, Kanpur, Churk, Purulia, Digha and thence east-southeastwards to east-central Bay of Bengal.

The cyclonic circulation over South Bangladesh and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal extending up to 4.5 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height persists.

Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over Gangetic West Bengal during the next 24 hours.

Another cyclonic circulation lies over Jharkhand and its neighbourhood between 3.1 and 4.5 Km above mean sea level.

Statistics revealed that the state’s deficit rain as of date stood at 13 per cent. Against a normal of 658 mm of rain, the state has so far received 570 mm of rain.
