Jamshedpur, August 3: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre today issued a forecast of heavy rain at isolated places over Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra and Latehar districts of the state.

Thunderstorm and lightning are also expected at isolated places over the state today.

The low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand persists and associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.

It moved west-northwestwards and intensified into a depression over Jharkhand and its neighbourhood during the last 24 hours.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Bikaner, Sikar, Gwalior, Siddhi, Center of Low-Pressure Area over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand, Sagar Island and northeast Bay of Bengal.

No heavy rain alert was issued for Monday and Tuesday. But, again on Wednesday, August 7, heavy rain is expected in isolated places, said weathermen.

The rainfall during the past 24 hours brought down Jharkhand’s rain deficit figure to 32 %.

Statistics revealed that against normal rainfall of 536 mm, the state has so far received  359 mm of rain.
