Jamshedpur, October 7: Jharkhand is likely to witness another spell of unsettled weather on Wednesday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy rain at isolated places in north-eastern and adjoining central parts of the state.

Deoghar, Jamtara and Giridih in north-eastern Jharkhand, along with Dhanbad and Bokaro in the adjoining central region, are likely to receive heavy rain at isolated places.

The weather system may also trigger thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph at isolated places across Jharkhand.

Monsoon Withdrawal Continues

According to the latest synoptic analysis, the southwest monsoon withdrawal line continues to pass through 27.5°N/86.5°E, Supaul, Ranchi, Raipur, Brahmapuri, Parbhani, Baramati, Harnai and 17.5°N/71.8°E, indicating that the withdrawal process is continuing over the region.

An upper-air cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand and adjoining areas now lies over south Jharkhand and its neighbourhood, extending up to 4.5 km above mean sea level.

A trough extending from Sub-Himalayan West Bengal to Konkan and Goa also runs across Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Marathwada and North Interior Karnataka at an altitude of around 5.8 km.

Another trough extending from west Uttar Pradesh to the North Bay of Bengal runs across northwest Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha at around 1.5 km above mean sea level.

The interaction of these weather systems is contributing to the possibility of isolated heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning over Jharkhand.

IMD Issues Lightning Safety Advisory

The IMD has advised people to remain cautious during thunderstorms and lightning, particularly in open areas. People have also been advised to avoid taking shelter under isolated trees during lightning activity.
