PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, Sept 28: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of light rain in few places across Jharkhand today

Thundershowers and lightning are also expected at a few places today.

Weathermen said the monsoon currents have become weak over the state in absence of any system or cyclonic circulation.

Satellite pictures indicated that the trough from north central  Maharashtra to north Bangladesh was today running from south Gujarat to northwest Bihar across the cyclonic circulation over southwest Madhya Pradesh between 1.5 Km and 5.8 Km above the mean sea level.

As of today, Jharkhand’s rain deficit shows nil. The good spell of rain and heavy showers in some places during the past three days resulted in overcoming the deficit.

Against normal rainfall of 1007 mm, the state has so far received 1004 mm. According to rain statistics most districts have achieved surplus rain.
