Jamshedpur, Jan 12:  As predicted by the India Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature started plummeting across Jharkhand due to the free flow of north-westerly currents.

Ranchi, Jamshedpur and several other places witnessed a 4-5 degree Celsius fall in the last 48 hours while as per statistics Daltonganj and several other places in north-western Jharkhand witnessed a 6-7 degree fall in minimum readings.

IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre predicted a further fall in minimum temperature across Jharkhand in the next two to three days after which the minimum reading is expected to remain stable.

The Met Centre also issued a forecast of light rain in Jharkhand on January 17, Wednesday.

Meanwhile, no significant synoptic system prevails over Jharkhand.

Westerly to north-westerly winds prevailed at lower levels of the atmosphere.

Dry weather prevailed over the state during the past 24 hours while shallow fog was observed at isolated places over the state.
