Jamshedpur, June 17: Southwest monsoon will have a delayed entry in Jharkhand this year as monsoon currents are moving at a slow pace.
According to a bulletin issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre severe heat wave conditions are likely to prevail at isolated places of Garwha and Palamu districts today.
Heat wave conditions would also prevail at isolated places of Chatra, Koderma and Hazaribagh.
Cloud cover prevailed at several places today including Jamshedpur, Chaibasa and adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan. Clouds also prevailed in Ranchi and several other places in central Jharkhand which would help in bringing down the day’s temperature.
An alert of thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty wind (max wind speed: 30-40 kmph) is also issued for isolated places over the state today
Monsoon Update
The Northern Limit of Monsoon continues to pass through Navsari, Jalgaon, Amravati, Chandrapur, Bijapur, Sukma, Malkangiri, Vizianagaram and Islampur.
Conditions are favourable for further advancement of the southwest monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and northwest Bay of Bengal, some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, remaining parts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal and some parts of Bihar during the next 4-5 days.
Synoptic Features
The cyclonic circulation over north Bangladesh and the neighbourhood was lying over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal extending upto 1.5 km above the mean sea level.
The east-west trough from northwest Bihar to east Assam was running across the cyclonic circulation over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal at 0.9 km above the mean sea level.
