PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, Feb 10: Sub-10 chill makes a comeback in Jharkhand as most places today recorded less than 10 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature witnessed an abrupt drop in Jharkhand due to the dominating cold and crisp north-westerly wind.

Snowfalls in northern India triggered strong north-westerly currents which intensified the chill in Jharkhand and neighbouring Bihar.

Met statistics revealed that the state capital Ranchi today recorded a minimum temperature of 9.2 degrees Celsius while Palamu headquarters, Daltonganj, recorded a minimum temperature of 7.3 degrees Celsius.

According to weathermen, the minimum temperature will continue to witness a drop in the next 24 hours after which the minimum reading will witness a gradual rise.

Today’s satellite pictures indicated a cyclonic circulation over northwest Uttar Pradesh and neighbourhood between 1.5 and 3.1 km above the mean sea level.
