Jamshedpur, Feb 10: Sub-10 chill makes a comeback in Jharkhand as most places today recorded less than 10 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature witnessed an abrupt drop in Jharkhand due to the dominating cold and crisp north-westerly wind.

Snowfalls in northern India triggered strong north-westerly currents which intensified the chill in Jharkhand and neighbouring Bihar.

Met statistics revealed that the state capital Ranchi today recorded a minimum temperature of 9.2 degrees Celsius while Palamu headquarters, Daltonganj, recorded a minimum temperature of 7.3 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature hovered around 9 degrees Celsius in adjoining West Singhbhum district.

The minimum temperature was recorded less than 10 degrees Celsius in several places today including Deoghar, Dhanbad, Garhwa, Hazaribag, Simdega, Latehar, Lohardaga and Ramgarh.

According to weathermen, the minimum temperature will continue to witness a drop in the next 24 hours after which the minimum reading will witness a gradual rise.

Today’s satellite pictures indicated a cyclonic circulation over northwest Uttar Pradesh and neighbourhood between 1.5 and 3.1 km above the mean sea level.
