Jamshedpur, August 9: Several isolated areas of Jharkhand are expected to witness thundershowers and lightning activity today, said a Met office forecast.
Weathermen ruled out the possibility of heavy rain anywhere in the state today.
Heavy rain forecasts have been issued for some places in northern Jharkhand on Saturday and Sunday.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Ganganagar, Rohtak, Agra, Churk, Ranchi, Balasore and thence southeastwards to east-central Bay of Bengal.

The cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand and adjoining northern Odisha and Chhattisgarh lies over western Jharkhand and neighbourhood extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height.
Meanwhile, rain statistics suggested that Jharkhand as of today recorded a rain deficit of 14 %. The deficit came down by two per cent in two days.
Many places across Jharkhand experienced a good spell of rain earlier this week and this helped in bringing down the deficit figure.
Statistics suggested that till August 8 Jharkhand as a whole actually received 505 mm of rain against a normal of 595 mm.
