Jamshedpur, Feb 1:  Several places including Ranchi and Jamshedpur today experienced unseasonal showers triggered by a western disturbance passing through northern parts of the country.

The Western disturbance resulted in a tough running from the cyclonic circulation over Bangladesh to north Odisha across Gangetic West Bengal at 0.9 km above mean sea level.

Several places in central, north-eastern and southern Jharkhand today woke up to inclement weather conditions with abrupt rise in minimum temperature.

Ranchi today recorded a minimum temperature of 14.5 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature in Jamshedpur shot up to 17 degrees Celsius.

Daltonganj, the Palamu headquarters recorded a minimum temperature of 12.2 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature rose to 13.5 degrees Celsius in Bokaro.

Chaibasa in the neighbouring West Singhbhum and several other places in southern Jharkhand today recorded a minimum temperature of over 15 degrees Celsius.

Weathermen at IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre said intermittent light to moderate showers are expected in several places across Jharkhand today.

However, Met officials said that the weather condition is expected to improve from tomorrow which will again result in a drop in minimum temperature.

A fresh Western Disturbance is also likely to affect northwest India from February 3, said a Met department official.
