Jharkhand’s path inspired by Jaipal Singh Munda, Baba Dishom Guruji: CM

London/Ranchi, January 23: Jharkhand’s 25-year journey of statehood, rooted in struggle, identity, and harmony with nature, continues to draw inspiration from the visionary ideals of Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda and Baba Dishom Guruji, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said while addressing the ‘Jharkhand @25’ programme organised in London.

The event, organised by the Government of Jharkhand, brought together students, scholars, professionals, and members of the Jharkhand diaspora to reflect on the State’s evolution and to chart a shared vision for the future.

Connecting Jharkhand with Its Global Community

Around 150 participants attended the programme, including students studying at leading UK universities under the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship Scheme, Chevening–Marang Gomke Scholars, young professionals working in the UK, university faculty members, researchers, entrepreneurs, and professionals associated with Jharkhand.

The initiative is among the first overseas outreach programmes undertaken by a State Government in India, aimed at strengthening ties with Jharkhand’s global knowledge partners, students, and diaspora.

Chief Minister Highlights Nature-Aligned Development

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that Jharkhand @25 symbolises the State’s journey beyond 25 years towards endless possibilities, where development moves forward in harmony with nature.

He emphasised that Jharkhand’s progress is built on collective participation, inclusivity, and a deep connection to its cultural and civilisational roots.

Legacy of Jaipal Singh Munda and Baba Dishom Guruji

The Chief Minister noted that Jharkhand’s path continues to be guided by the ideals of Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda and Baba Dishom Guruji, who championed dignity, self-respect, social justice, and the rights of indigenous communities. He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development, ensuring that the benefits of growth reach every section of society.

Cultural Performances Showcase Jharkhand’s Heritage

The programme also showcased Jharkhand’s rich cultural heritage, with Marang Gomke Scholars and members of the Jharkhand community in the UK presenting cultural performances. Sadri songs and traditional expressions reflected the State’s vibrant identity.

Students shared their academic journeys and personal experiences, expressing gratitude to the Jharkhand Government for supporting access to global education and international exposure.
