Dhanbad, Nov 4: Union Bank employees of the state today staged a day-long Dharna at Union Bank regional office, Bank More Dhanbad in support of the seven-point charter of demands and against unfair labour practices of the management.
The staff under the banner of the Union Bank Employees Association, Jharkhand state, held a massive demonstration before sitting on a dharna. State president of the Association MN Singh said that employees of different branches across the state participated in this programme and resolved to continue the agitation in support of their demands.
The main demand of the Union Bank Employees Association was seeking the appointment of clerk-grade staff in branches from the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). Filling up the vacant posts from among the temporary and casual staff by regularising their job, an immediate ban on unfair labour practices in the name of deputation, talks with the employee’s body on Information Resources Management (IRM) policy matters, immediate relieving of employees who have been transferred or given higher assignment order and payment of minimum wage as per central/ state government to temporary and casual staff.
The association’s state president on the occasion charged that the Union Bank management is violating established banks’ rules and regulations in Jharkhand and unfair labour practices in the name of deputation has become common.
“The most glaring matter is that temporary and casual staff of the bank are not being paid the minimum wage as per policy of Jharkhand government. Management does not negotiate with the employee body as per IRM policy. The state association would again hold a day-long dharna on November 23, if the management fails to implement the demands”, said Singh.
Saket Kumar Sinha, Debashish Vaidya, Amit Kumar, PK Srivastava, Manish Kumar Roy, Rajiv Roy, Santosh Kumar, Narayan Rajak, RK Jaiswal, ML Singh, Sandip Wasan, SN Singh, Subhash Valmiki and Zubair Alam also addressed the dharna rally.
