JITA meets MSME Joint Director, raises concerns on GST proposal

Dhanbad, Sept 5: A delegation of the Jharkhand Industries and Trade Association (JITA) met Indrajit Yadav, Joint Director and Head of Department of the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, during his visit to Dhanbad.

The delegation, led by JITA president Amitesh Sahay and general secretary Rajiv Sharma, highlighted pressing issues faced by industries in the region.

Concerns Over GST on Coal Products

The delegation expressed serious concern over the recent amendments recommended by the GST Council regarding coal products.

Industrialists stated that the revised GST rates would significantly increase costs, making it harder for small and medium enterprises to sustain operations.

Members described the move as detrimental to the MSME sector, already facing challenges in maintaining competitiveness.

Crisis in Hard Coke-Based Industries

JITA also drew attention to the crisis in hard coke-based industries, where many units are struggling due to the non-availability of coal supply under the Fuel Supply Agreement (FSA).

Industrialists urged the ministry to address the issue on priority and restore FSA supplies to ensure the survival of affected industries.

Joint Director Indrajit Yadav listened attentively to the concerns raised and assured the delegation that necessary steps would be taken at the appropriate level.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by industrial units and promised to communicate the issues to higher authorities for action.

The meeting was attended by JITA president Amitesh Sahay, general secretary Rajiv Sharma, Himanshu Mittal, Vibanshu Agrawal, Vivek Singh, Krishan Kumar, and Sujit Kumar, deputy director of MSME.
