Patna, March 13: The Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) has released a notification announcing recruitment for the posts of Subordinate Statistical Officer (SSO) / Block Statistical Officer (BSO) in the state.
According to the notification, the application process for SSC SSO/BSO Recruitment 2025 will begin on April 1, 2025, and continue until April 19, 2025.
Interested and eligible candidates can apply online within this period by visiting the official BSSC website bssc.bihar.gov.in.
Eligibility & Criteria
To apply for the posts of Subordinate Statistical Officer (SSO) / Block Statistical Officer (BSO), candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics from a recognized university.
Candidates who have completed a pass course degree in these subjects or have them as subsidiary subjects in their graduation are also eligible to apply for these positions.

Age Limit
To be eligible for this recruitment, candidates must be at least 21 years old. The maximum age limit is set as follows:
- 37 years for unreserved male candidates
- 40 years for OBC (male & female) and unreserved female candidates
- 42 years for SC/ST (male & female) candidates
Additionally, candidates from all categories with disabilities will receive a 10-year relaxation in the upper age limit as per their respective category.
Application Process and Fee
To participate in this recruitment, candidates can apply only through the online mode by visiting the official website bssc.bihar.gov.in. No other mode of application will be accepted. Along with filling out the form, candidates must pay the prescribed application fee as per their category.
Male candidates from the General, Backward Class (BC), and Extremely Backward Class (EBC) categories, as well as candidates from all categories outside Bihar, are required to pay an application fee of ₹540.
For SC/ST candidates (permanent residents of Bihar), all categories of disabled candidates (same as SC/ST), and all female candidates (permanent residents of Bihar), the application fee is ₹135.

Selection Process
To be selected for this recruitment, candidates must go through a written examination. The written test carries a weightage of 75 marks.
Additionally, candidates with prior experience working on a contractual basis will receive preference of up to 25% marks—5 marks per year of service, with a maximum limit of 25 marks.
