Ranchi, August 7: A protest march by students and youth organisations towards the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly over alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC recruitment examinations was disrupted on Friday after a youth allegedly threw ink at All India Students Association (AISA) National President Neha Bora and several other student leaders.
The police detained the accused shortly after the incident, preventing the situation from escalating further.
Students March to Assembly Seeking Recruitment Reforms
Thousands of students and youth participated in the march, demanding transparency in recruitment examinations, an impartial investigation into alleged irregularities and paper leaks in the JPSC and JSSC examinations, and comprehensive reforms in the state’s recruitment process.
Protesters carrying banners, placards and flags marched towards the Assembly, raising slogans against alleged paper leaks and irregularities in government recruitment examinations.
The march witnessed participation from several student and youth organisations, including the All India Students Association (AISA), Students Federation of India (SFI), All India Students Federation (AISF), Revolutionary Youth Association (RYA) and All India Youth Federation (AIYF).
Neha Bora, who recently arrived in Ranchi to support the agitation, joined the Assembly march after interacting with protesting students.
Ink Thrown at Student Leaders
The protest took a dramatic turn when a youth allegedly threw ink at Neha Bora and other student leaders, including Vibha, Shivani, Sneha and Srishti. Ink also reportedly splashed on another participant, Suhani.
The incident triggered chaos for a brief period as protesting students confronted the youth. Police personnel deployed at the venue intervened immediately, detained the accused and restored order.
According to Neha Bora, the detained youth has been identified as Amarnath Pandey, a resident of Hazaribagh and an alumnus of Vinoba Bhave University.
Neha Bora Levels Political Allegations
Addressing a press conference after the incident, Neha Bora alleged that the ink attack was part of a conspiracy to derail the students’ protest.
She claimed that the accused had links with the RSS and the BJP and alleged that the ink attack was intended to prevent the Assembly march from reaching its destination. These allegations have not been independently verified.
Bora asserted that the incident would not weaken the ongoing student movement and said those responsible were mistaken if they believed such actions would diminish students’ demand for the cancellation of the JPSC and SSC-CGL examinations and for transparent recruitment.
Protest to Continue
Student organisations reiterated that their agitation would continue until the government initiates an impartial inquiry into the alleged recruitment irregularities and implements comprehensive reforms to ensure fair and transparent recruitment examinations in Jharkhand.
