JPSC-JSSC scam protest: First round of govt-student talks ends on positive note

THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK

Ranchi, August 7: The first round of talks between the Jharkhand government and students protesting over alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC recruitment examinations ended on a positive note on Friday evening, with both sides describing the discussions as constructive.

The meeting was held at the State Guest House in Morabadi, Ranchi, where a ministerial committee comprising Sudivya Kumar, Deepika Singh, Sanjay Yadav and Chamra Linda held discussions with a 10-member student delegation on their demands related to recruitment examinations.

After the meeting, Minister Sudivya Kumar said the committee had carefully heard all the demands raised by the students and would deliberate on them before taking a decision.

The students also expressed satisfaction with the initial interaction, saying the government had given them a patient hearing.

Student Leader Calls Talks Positive

Speaking after the meeting, student delegation leader Ravindra Paswan described the first round of talks as positive.

He said the government had listened to the students’ concerns in detail but clarified that the ongoing protest would continue until concrete action is taken on their demands.

Delegation Formed After Government’s Condition

Earlier in the day, Ranchi Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) met the protesting students at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium and conveyed the government’s condition that only students—not political leaders or outsiders—would be allowed to participate in the talks.

Following the discussions, the protesters constituted a 10-member student delegation and informed the government, which subsequently extended an invitation for the meeting.
