JSHSA polls: Voting to begin at 10 am in all 24 district HQs tomorrow

Dhanbad, Jan 18: The voting for the election of key positions in the Jharkhand State Health Services Association (JSHSA), including General Secretary, Convener, and Vice-President (Kolhan Division), will commence tomorrow, January 19, at 10 AM across all 24 district headquarters.

According to Dr. Lal Majhi, Chief Election Commissioner of JSHSA, polling will be conducted from 10 AM to 4 PM, followed by the counting of votes between 4 PM and 5 PM.

Dr. Majhi stated that the results will be announced at 8 PM. Presiding officers in each district will send the vote counts via a dedicated WhatsApp group to the state headquarters in Ranchi for final tabulation.

“A WhatsApp group has been created, where presiding officers from all districts will send the vote counts for each candidate to the state headquarters in Ranchi. The results will be announced at 8 PM,” said Dr. Lal Majhi.

Preparations and Election Overview

The election committee, comprising Dr. Lal Majhi, Dr. Pankaj Kumar, Dr. R.K. Singh, and Dr. Vikash Kumar Gupta, finalized all preparations and issued directives to presiding officers in each district to ensure a smooth process.

While several positions, including President, seven Vice-Presidents, Treasurer, and seven Joint Secretaries, were filled unopposed, voting will be held for three contested posts: General Secretary, Convener, and Vice-President (Kolhan Division).

Candidates in the Fray

Two candidates, Dr. Thakur Mritunjay Kumar Singh and Dr. Krishna Murari, are vying for the position of General Secretary.

The Convener post has three contenders: Dr. Sharad Kumar, Dr. Sidheswar Baskey, and Dr. Santosh Kumar.

For the Vice-President post of Kolhan Division, the competition is between Dr. Jagannath Hembrom of Chaibasa and Dr. Shahid Anwar of Jamshedpur.

Voter Statistics and District Breakdown

A total of 1,617 state government medical officers are eligible to vote in the election. Ranchi district leads with the highest number of voters at 168, followed by Dhanbad (115), Palamu (100), and East Singhbhum (90).

For the Kolhan Division Vice-President post, 219 medical officers will cast their votes. Jamshedpur has the highest number of voters (90), followed by West Singhbhum (80) and Saraikela (49).

Dhanbad Prepares for Polling

In Dhanbad, a polling booth has been set up at the Sadar Hospital, confirmed Dr. Jitesh Ranjan, the district’s presiding officer for the JSHSA elections. Voting will begin at 10 AM, and the results will be sent to the state headquarters by 5 PM.

Other key members of the Dhanbad election committee include Civil Surgeon Dr. Chandrabhan Pratapan, Dr. Rajkumar, and Dr. Vinit Kumar. All arrangements have been finalized to ensure smooth polling in the district.
