New Delhi, May 30: Three senior judicial figures—Justice NV Anjaria, Justice Vijay Bishnoi, and Justice AS Chandurkar—were sworn in as Supreme Court judges on Friday.

Their appointments followed the Centre’s approval on May 29, just days after the Supreme Court Collegium, led by Chief Justice of India BR Gavai, recommended their elevation in a meeting held on May 26, 2025.

Justice Anjaria was serving as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court, Justice Bishnoi held the post of Chief Justice at the Gauhati High Court, and Justice Chandurkar was a judge at the Bombay High Court.
With these additions, the Supreme Court now has its full sanctioned strength of 34 judges.
The Collegium that recommended their elevation comprises the five senior-most judges of the Supreme Court—CJI B.R. Gavai, and Justices Surya Kant, Vikram Nath, J.K. Maheshwari, and B.V. Nagarathna.
