Ranchi, April 14: In a powerful show of unity and purpose, the Jharkhand Congress marked the birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar with a historic human chain and a vibrant public gathering in Ranchi. The message was loud and clear: the Constitution must be protected, and Baba Saheb’s ideals must guide the nation.

A Living Tribute to the Constitution
The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee transformed Ambedkar Jayanti into a festival of democratic commitment. Thousands of citizens and Congress members joined hands to form a human chain in the heart of Ranchi, symbolising solidarity with Dr. Ambedkar’s vision of equality, justice, and fraternity.
In a poignant gesture, a copy of the Constitution was ceremonially carried from Baba Saheb’s statue to that of Dr. Rajendra Prasad—reenacting the symbolic handover of the Constitution to the Republic.

Raju’s Rousing Address: Constitution Under Attack
Addressing the gathering, All India Congress Committee in-charge K. Raju drew a sharp contrast between two ideologies shaping India’s future.

“Today, the country stands at a crossroads. One ideology follows Manusmriti and division, while the other stands with the Constitution and unity,” he said.
He accused the BJP of systematically undermining constitutional values over the past decade, urging people to stand up for the inclusive principles laid out by Dr. Ambedkar.
“This Is a Movement, Not Just a Celebration”
State Congress President Keshav Mahto Kamlesh echoed this sentiment, describing the event as more than a tribute—it was a people’s movement. “No power can take away the rights given to us by Baba Saheb. Jharkhand stands firmly with his ideals,” he said.
Voices of Solidarity and Resolve
A host of senior Congress leaders, MLAs, and ministers—among them Shilpi Neha Tirkey, Pradeep Yadav, Rajesh Kachhap, and Amba Prasad—also addressed the crowd. Each speech reinforced the call to protect the Constitution from ideological threats.
Shilpi Neha Tirkey reminded attendees of Ambedkar’s core message: “Be educated, be organised, and be prepared to struggle.” She noted the irony of those who once ignored Ambedkar now using his slogans.
Other leaders present on the occasion included Rajesh Kachhap, Dr. Rameshwar Oraon, Suresh Baitha, Mamta Devi, Bhushan Bada, former MP Subodh Kant Sahay, senior leader of State Congress Committee Alok Kumar Dubey, Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo, Dr. Rajesh Gupta, Ajay Nath Shahdeo, Vinay Sinha Deepu, Abhilash Sahu, Bandhu Tirkey and Rajiv Ranjan Prasad.
The Spirit of Jharkhand: Awake and Organised
The event concluded with heartfelt thanks from party leaders Alok Kumar Dubey and Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo, who hailed the gathering as “unprecedented” in its energy and significance.
“This wasn’t just a commemoration—it became a festival of constitutional pride. It reflects the political and social awakening of Jharkhand,” they said, calling it a signal of the Congress’s deep public connection and its readiness to lead a nationwide movement of awareness.
