New Delhi, May 6: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to hold discussions with all political parties on the issue of caste census.

In his letter, Kharge emphasized the need to take necessary steps to ensure justice for the backward and marginalized sections of society.

He suggested that the model adopted by the Telangana government for conducting a caste survey should be followed.

Additionally, he called for increasing the 50% cap on reservations and implementing reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes in private educational institutions.

Kharge also urged for the prompt implementation of Article 15(5) of the Constitution.

He stated that the caste census should not be viewed as a divisive move, but rather as an initiative to empower the weaker sections of society.
