Ranchi, Aug 16: OPD services and routine OT paralyzed hospitals of five medical colleges as senior residents, junior doctors and Interns proceeded on indefinite strike from Friday morning demanding safety of doctors and in protest against the Kolkata RG Kar Medical College Hospital incident.
5 Jharkhand medical colleges on indefinite strike
Senior residents, junior doctors and post graduate students of Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) Ranchi are already on indefinite strike since Tuesday under the banner o Junior Doctors Association (JDA).
State body of Jharkhand Junior Doctors Network JDN president Vikash Kumar (RIMS) and general secretary Dr Raghvendra Kumar (MGMMCH) said senior residents and junior doctors of all five medical colleges MGMMCH Jamshedpur, SNMMCH Dhanbad, PJMCH Dumka, SBMCH Hazaribagh and MMCH Daltonganj today morning went on indefinite strike.
Since hospitals of all medical colleges run on senior residents and junior doctors, the strike has paralyzed OPD and routine OT services. The strike’s major effect was seen at Dumka, Hazaribagh and Daltonganj where Sadar Hospital is attached to medical college.

JDN vice-president Dr Jaideep and GS Dr Raghvendra said that doctors never want to strike and carry it as patients suffer most but after the Kolkata incident, medicos feel unsafe. Now only the Central Protection Act can restore confidence.
IMA calls 24 hours strike in Jharkhand from Saturday
Indian Medical Association has called a 24-hour strike across the state from Saturday 6 am to Sunday 6 am.
IMA state secretary Dr Pradeep Kumar Singh giving this information said health services have been withdrawn for justice to Kolkata trainee doctor and in support of agitation being carried out by doctors there.
“Vandalism at RG Kar Hospital and attack on agitating medicos have compelled IMA to stand in their support”, said Dr Pradeep Kumar Singh.
All medicos bodies of state support 24-hour strike
Private and government health services are likely to be paralyzed as besides IMA, Jharkhand Health Service Association (JHSA), JDN, JDA IMA women’s wing, Association of Health Providers in India (AHPI), and HBI have supported it.
