Patna, Sept 26: Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Lalu Prasad’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav, expelled from the RJD, has announced the launch of his new political party.
He has named his party ‘Jan Shakti Janata Dal’ (JJD), with the party symbol as a blackboard. The party’s ideology, according to Tej Pratap, is “the power of the people, rule by the people, and development of Bihar.” He stated that the aim is to bring comprehensive change in Bihar and establish a new system of governance.
Tej Pratap shared the poster of his new party on social media, along with a contact number for those who wish to join. He emphasized that the party is fully committed to the overall development of Bihar and is ready for a long struggle to bring comprehensive change and build a new system of governance.

Contest from Mahua constituency
Tej Pratap also confirmed that he will contest the elections from the Mahua Assembly constituency, from where he had won as an MLA in 2015. In 2020, the RJD had fielded him from Hasanpur. He added that if the public gives him a chance, he will strive to give Bihar a new direction.

Expulsion from RJD over personal post
Tej Pratap Yadav, the eldest son of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, began his political career with the RJD and also served as Health Minister in the Nitish-Lalu coalition government.
Recently, he was expelled from the party over a social media post in which he mentioned a personal relationship. He later claimed that his account had been hacked.

Alliance with five parties
With the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections in mind, Tej Pratap announced in August a coalition with five regional parties. The alliance includes the Vikas Vanchit Insaan Party (VVIP), Bhojpuriya Jan Morcha (BJM), Pragatisheel Janata Party (PJB), Wajib Adhikar Party (WAP), and Sanyukt Kisan Vikas Party.
