Ranchi, July 28: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch the ‘Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan’ (Social Harmony Pledge Campaign) across Jharkhand from July 29, coinciding with Guru Purnima, to commemorate the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji. The seven-month nationwide campaign will continue until February 20, 2027, which marks Guru Ravidas Jayanti (Maghi Purnima).

Announcing the programme at a press conference at the BJP state headquarters in Ranchi, former Chief Minister Arjun Munda said the campaign seeks to take Guru Ravidas’ message of social harmony, equality, brotherhood and national unity to every village and household in the state.

‘Lamp of Harmony’ to Be Lit Across Temples

Munda said a nationwide ‘Samrasta Deep’ (Lamp of Harmony) programme will be organised on the evening of July 29, with lamps to be lit at temples and other religious places across Jharkhand and the country to spread the message of harmony and unity.

He said the campaign would also include the ‘Kalash Vandan Abhiyan’, under which sacred soil from Seer Govardhanpur in Varanasi, the birthplace of Guru Ravidas, will be collected and taken to the mandal level across states.

Harmony Yatra Planned From Jalandhar to Varanasi

As part of the campaign, the BJP will organise a ‘Samrasta Yatra’ from Jalandhar to Varanasi between October 5 and November 5. Details of additional programmes will be announced in the coming months.

Munda said the campaign has been conceptualised by the BJP’s national leadership and is aimed at promoting India’s spiritual and cultural values through the teachings of Guru Ravidas.

Campaign Aims to Promote Equality and Social Harmony

Describing Guru Ravidas as one of India’s greatest saints, Munda said his teachings continue to inspire society through the ideals of equality, fraternity and social justice.

Referring to Guru Ravidas’ famous saying, “Man Changa To Kathauti Mein Ganga”, he said purity of mind and social harmony remain essential for building an inclusive society.

“The BJP has undertaken this large-scale campaign with a significant social and nationalist objective. It is important that people understand Guru Ravidas’ life and teachings and follow them to build a harmonious society and a strong nation,” Munda said.

Vision of a Developed and Inclusive India

Munda said the campaign would strengthen the spirit of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ and encourage public participation in nation-building.

He also referred to Guru Ravidas’ vision of ‘Begumpura’, describing it as an ideal society free from discrimination, inequality and suffering.

State Media In-charge Yogendra Pratap Singh, state spokespersons Ashok Baraik and Prakash Singh, and Media Co-incharge Ajay Rai were also present at the press conference.
