Ranchi, August 5: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) founder, former Chief Minister, and Rajya Sabha MP Shibu Soren, popularly known as Dishom Guru, was paid homage in the Jharkhand Assembly.
Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Speaker Rabindranath Mahto, Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, ministers Irfan Ansari, Deepika Pandey Singh, Yogendra Prasad, Sudivya Sonu, Radhakrishna Kishore, MP Pappu Yadav, and Union Minister Jual Oram were among those who offered their respects.
TMC leaders Derek O’Brien and Shatabdi Roy also paid tribute to the veteran leader. All MLAs were present during the condolence meeting in the Assembly premises, where a two-minute silence was observed.

Earlier, as the funeral procession began from his Morabadi residence to the Assembly, chants of “Veer Shibu Amar Rahe” echoed in the air. As the convoy moved towards the Assembly, crowds gathered along the route for a last glimpse of the leader.
The demise of Dishom Guru has sent shockwaves across the country, leaving everyone deeply saddened. His last rites will be performed today at his ancestral village, Nemra in Ramgarh district. Preparations for the ceremony have been completed.
Leaders from across the country have started arriving in Ranchi to attend the funeral. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut paid his respects at Soren’s Morabadi residence. Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge will also attend the last rites.
As per the schedule, Kharge will arrive in Ranchi at 1:45 PM and leave for Nemra at 3:30 PM. He is expected to reach Nemra by 4 PM and participate in the funeral rituals. He will return to Ranchi at 5:20 PM and depart for Delhi at 6:30 PM.
Bihar Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav is also expected to attend the funeral.
