Jamshedpur, June 4: Jharkhand is beginning to experience the early whispers of the southwest monsoon, with light rain and thundershowers likely to occur in isolated areas over the next two days.

According to the latest forecast issued on June 4, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated a possibility of light precipitation on both June 4 and June 5.

However, the rain activity on June 5 is expected to spare the southwestern part of the state.

The synoptic chart reveals significant atmospheric developments pointing to the gradual progression of the monsoon.

A notable feature is the formation of an upper air cyclonic circulation over East Bihar, at approximately 0.9 Km above mean sea level, which is likely to influence weather patterns in the adjoining regions, enhancing moisture and increasing chances of localized rainfall.

Meanwhile, the Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) has advanced and now extends through a wide swathe of the Indian subcontinent.

The line currently passes through 17.0°N/55°E, 17.5°N/60°E, 18°N/65°E, 18.5°N/70°E, Mumbai, Ahilyanagar, Adilabad, Bhawanipatna, Puri, Sandhead Island, 23.5°N/89.5°E, Balurghat, and 30°N/85°E.

This indicates the monsoon’s significant reach from the Arabian Sea to parts of eastern and northeastern India, showing steady advancement.

Key Highlights:

June 4: Light rain/thundershower likely at isolated places across the state.

June 5: Similar conditions expected, excluding the southwestern part of the state.

Cyclonic circulation over East Bihar could enhance local rainfall activity.

Monsoon has reached major parts of the Indian subcontinent, including Mumbai, Odisha, West Bengal, and up to the eastern Nepal border.

Residents are advised to stay updated with daily weather bulletins and plan their travel or outdoor activities accordingly.

While the rainfall will offer temporary relief from the summer heat, it may also cause sudden changes in local weather conditions, especially in regions affected by the cyclonic circulation.
