Kolkata, March 6: The chief minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, increased the wages of Anganwadi workers and their assistants on Wednesday, effective April 1.
The monthly remuneration for Anganwadi workers has been raised from Rs 8,250 to Rs 9,000. Additionally, the assistants of Anganwadi workers will receive a raise of Rs 750 beginning next month.
Additionally, the chief minister announced a raise for Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) employees of Rs 500 per month.

“Asha workers are our pride as they work very hard. They support us in all the bad times. I am happy to announce that their salaries have been increased by Rs 750 from the month of April. The Anganwadi workers get Rs 8,250. Their salaries have been increased by Rs 750 (from April). The ICDS helpers get about Rs 6000. Their salaries have been increased by Rs 500 from April 1,” Mamata Banerjee stated.
The Anganwadi Services is a centrally sponsored scheme, with the responsibility for its implementation resting with state governments and UT administrations. The process of filling vacant positions at different levels involves ongoing communication and video conferences with these authorities.
