Man accused of stabbing Saif Ali Khan sent to 5-day police custody

Mumbai, Jan 19: The Bandra Holiday Court on Sunday ordered five days of police custody for the accused arrested for attacking actor Saif Ali Khan at his residence.

Authorities revealed that the accused, Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad, an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh, had entered the actor’s home with the intent to commit theft.

According to reports, Shehzad was apprehended in Thane’s Hiranandani Estate while attempting to flee to his hometown in the Jhalokati district of Bangladesh.

Following the incident, the police launched multiple investigation teams and registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), including 311, 312, 331(4), 331(6), and 331(7).

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder at his 11th-floor apartment in Bandra around 2:30 am on Thursday.

The incident began when the intruder confronted the actor’s maid, leading to a violent altercation as Saif attempted to step in. The attacker stabbed Saif multiple times, leaving him injured. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery and is now in stable condition.

The hospital administration reported that Saif Ali Khan is recovering well and has been transferred from the ICU to a regular room.
