New Delhi, Dec 4: Following reports of a firing incident in Tengnoupal, Manipur, on Monday, the Assam Rifles launched an operation in the region. 13 bodies were recovered in the Tengnoupal district following the operation.
The identities of the deceased individuals remain unknown as of now.
Significantly, on December 3, the Kuki-Zo tribal factions in the Tengnoupal district showed support for the recent ‘Peace Agreement’ between the Indian government and the Meitei militant group, UNLF (Pambei).

Mobile internet restored
With the exception of a few locations, the Manipur government on Sunday reinstated mobile internet access throughout the state till December 18.
“Considering improvement in law and order and inconveniences faced by people due to the mobile internet ban, the state government has decided to relax the suspension,” the notification of government stated.
There will still be a suspension of operations for mobile towers that provide services within a 2 km radius along the adjoining areas between districts like Chandel and Kakching, Churachandpur and Bishnupur, Churachandpur and Kakching, Kangpokpi and Imphal West, Kangpokpi and Imphal East, Kangpokpi and Thoubal, and Tengnoupal and Kakching.
Following the eruption of violence in Manipur on May 3, mobile internet service had been suspended.
