New Delhi, May 2: Manish Sisodia, a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, has approached the Delhi High Court to challenge a ruling by the trial court which denied him bail in a case involving the excise policy case/ liquor scam. The case is currently being investigated by both the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The issue was brought up before the bench chaired by Acting Chief Justice Manmohan by attorneys Rajat Bharadwaj and Mohd Irshad, who asked that it be listed urgently.

“Let the concerned judge go through the file if your papers are in order by 12.30 pm today, we will have it tomorrow,” the bench stated after taking note of the submissions.

The Rouse Avenue Court dismissed Manish Sisodia’s bail petitions for the second time on April 30. The court stated that it was not willing to grant him bail, either regular or interim, at this point. Therefore, the application in question was rejected.

Since February 26, 2023, Manish Sisodia has been in custody following his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Subsequently, he was also arrested by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED). Additionally, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and BRS Leader K Kavitha were also arrested in connection with the excise policy case/ liquor scam.
