Ranchi, Nov 16: Defending champion Manisha Rani Tirkey of Ranchi will face under-19 champion Saarah Sharma of Jamshedpur in the women’s singles final of the Jharkhand State Senior Badminton Championship. The match will take place tomorrow at the Thakur Vishwanath Shadeo Indoor Stadium.
In the semifinals, Manisha defeated Yogita Bora of Ranchi with ease, 21-12, 21-10, while Saarah triumphed over Ananya Singh of Ranchi, winning 21-08, 22-20. After a dominant first set, Ananya fought back in the second but was ultimately outplayed by Saarah.
The organizing secretary Dr NK Dey, secretary of Ranchi District Badminton Association, said that final matches will be played tomorrow.

Men’s Singles: Shantanu Sharma and Safi Akram reach semis
In the men’s singles quarterfinals, Shantanu Sharma from Saraikela and Safi Akram from Ranchi booked their spots in the semifinals.
Shantanu defeated Rounak Negi of Jamshedpur 21-16, 21-15, while Safi Akram triumphed over Sajan Kumar of Ranchi with a 21-12, 09-21, 21-15 scoreline.
Women’s Doubles: Manisha and Ananya progress to semifinals
In the women’s doubles event, the duo of Manisha Rani Tirkey and Ananya Singh advanced to the semifinals. The pair beat Kajal Kumari (Lohardagga) and Priya Dubey (Deoghar) 21-12, 21-19, showing solid teamwork.
Doubles and Mixed Doubles results
The doubles and mixed doubles matches started on second day today.
In the men’s doubles event, Harshit Raj (Gumla) and Vinay Kumar Singh (Ranchi) overcame Abhishek Sinha and Shantanu Sharma (Jamshedpur) with a convincing 21-12, 21-12 victory in the first round.
In mixed doubles, Niraj Kesri (Ranchi) and Saarah Sharma (Jamshedpur) won their match against Akash Kumar (Ranchi) and Shruti (Dhanbad) 21-10, 21-07, to advance further in the competition.
