Dhanbad, Dec 8: In the wake of the Goa bar fire incident, Health, Medical Education, Food Supply and Disaster Management Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari has ordered a comprehensive fire safety investigation of all hotels, restaurants, bars and hospitals across Jharkhand.

The minister said that authorities in all 24 districts have been instructed to submit mandatory fire safety reports within a week.

A special focus has been placed on rooftop establishments. The Disaster Management Minister has directed officials to specifically examine the fire safety arrangements of rooftop bars and restaurants.

“Ensuring the safety of people’s health, life and property is my responsibility. The Jharkhand government is on alert to prevent any untoward incident. If a Goa-like incident occurs in Jharkhand, the responsible officer will be held accountable,” Dr. Ansari said.

He also appealed to the Goa government to ensure the safety of tourists from Jharkhand. “I will speak to Chief Minister Hemant Soren regarding financial assistance for the family from Ranchi who lost their life in the Goa bar fire incident,” he added.

The minister further stated that probe teams have been directed to conduct a detailed technical inspection of gas pipelines, stoves and chimney systems in hotels and restaurants.
