New Delhi, August 16: At the National Film Awards, which were announced on Friday, Sooraj R. Barjatya was named Best Director for the Hindi film “Uunchai,” and the Malayalam film “Aattam: The Play” took home the Best Feature Film award.

Rishabh Shetty won the Best Actor award for his role in the Kannada hit “Kantara.”
The Best Actress award was jointly awarded to Nithya Menen for her role in the Tamil film “Thiruchitrambalam” and Manasi Parekh for her performance in the Gujarati movie “Kutch Express.”

Neena Gupta was named Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Uunchai,” while Pawan Malhotra received the Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in the Haryanvi film “Fouja.”

The award for Best Hindi Film went to “Gulmohar,” which stars Sharmila Tagore and Manoj Bajpayee. The film also received Special Mention and Best Screenplay awards.
A R Rahman was awarded Best Music Director (Background Music) for his score in Mani Ratnam’s “Ponnyin Selvan-Part 1,” which was also recognized as the Best Tamil Film. Pritam received the award for Best Music Director (Songs) for his work in “Brahmastra-Part 1.”
The winners of the 70th National Film Awards were announced on Friday in the national capital. The jury consisted of Rahul Rawail as the Chairperson of the Feature Film Jury, Nila Madhab Panda as the Chairperson of the Non-Feature Film Jury, and Gangadhar Mudalair as the Chairperson of the Best Writing on Cinema Jury.
