Jamshedpur, Dec 22: The rebels of the outlawed outfit CPI-Maoist on the intervening night of Friday blew up a railway track between Goelkera-Posheita stations under Chakradharpur railway division, causing disruption in railway communication throughout the day.

The Naxals resorted the disruptive act in red to a call for 24 hours Jharkhand bandh today.

Track blown for Jharkhand bandh by Naxals

The Naxals had triggered the explosion at the railway track soon after the timeline of the bandh call began past midnight.

Though the district administration as well as the railway police were maintaining extra vigilance in view of the bandh call, the Naxals succeeded in making their presence felt by triggering the explosion in the railway track in West Singhbhum.

The explosion took place in the third line between the Goelkera-Posheita railway section which had earlier been also attacked by the Naxals.

Fortunately, a loco driver of a goods train had come to know about the explosion and had subsequently alerted the concerned authority in the Chakradharpur railway division immediately.

Damaged track mended

As a result of the sabotage act on the railway track, the movement of over a dozen local trains and an express train had to be cancelled.

As the Goelkera-Posheita section falls on the Mumbai-Howrah main line, the movement of trains was affected seriously.

Senior divisional commercial manager, Chakradharpur, GR Singh while talking to The Jharkhand Story said that the damaged track has been mended and the train communication through the affected route has been restored.
