Srinagar, Oct 19: National Conference leader Mubarak Gul took the oath of office as the Protem Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly on Saturday at the Raj Bhawan in Srinagar.
J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha administered the oath to him. He will serve as the Protem Speaker until elections are conducted for the new Speaker.
Senior National Conference leader Mubarak Gul secured victory in the assembly election from the Eidgah constituency.

Mubarak Gul announced that the oath ceremony for newly elected MLAs will take place on Monday, October 21, at 2 PM. He stated that all members will attend the ceremony, during which he will administer the oath to each member.
Gul emphasized the importance of moving forward with the current positive atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir, noting that the significant voter turnout reflects a victory for democracy. He also mentioned the need to integrate the new MLAs with their senior counterparts and ministers to help them understand the legislative process.
