Ranchi, Feb 10: If you live in Ranchi, here’s some good news for you. Following the instructions of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the Ranchi Smart City Corporation has taken several steps to enhance residents’ safety. While the is already managing citywide automatic traffic control, it is now also assisting in crime prevention and detection.

In case of an emergency—such as witnessing or experiencing an accident—you can now directly connect with government agencies. To facilitate this, yellow emergency call boxes have been installed at 50 key intersections across Ranchi. Simply pressing the red button on the box will establish a direct voice connection with the Command Control Center, where you can report the issue. The Smart City team and the police will then alert the relevant agencies to provide immediate assistance. No mobile phone or emergency number is required—just locate a nearby yellow call box.

According to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, these emergency call boxes have been strategically placed at locations including Main Road Overbridge, Kanke Ring Road, Sahajanand Chowk, Shani Mandir Chowk, Harmu Chowk, Argora Chowk, Satellite Chowk, Kanke Road, Birsa Chowk, Mecon Chowk, Sujata Chowk, and Kokar Chowk. Some boxes have been temporarily removed due to ongoing flyover construction and road expansion projects, but they will be reinstalled soon.
