Dhanbad, May 28: International Chess Master (IM) Neeraj Mishra of Jamshedpur has been nominated chief coach of the Indian team for the FIDE Junior World Cup.
FIDE World Cup under 8, 10 and 12 age categories will be held in Batamuni town, Georgia from June 20 to July 5, 2024. Neeraj Mishra was also the coach of the India team in the 2023 FIDE World Cup held in Indonesia.
Neeraj Mishra is an International Master
Neeraj Mishra, the former general secretary of the All-Jharkhand Chess Association (AJCA), is the first chess player in the country who has the distinction of being an International Master (IM), International Arbiter (IA) and coach of the national team. In the 2022 Chennai Olympiad FIDE (international chess body) made him coach of Namibia and Cameroon national teams.

Neeraj Mishra in December 2022 resigned as general secretary of Jharkhand Chess Association, Dhanbad District Chess Association and membership after a dispute with president Pradeep Verma (MP). Although his term of serving a maximum of three times as office bearers had been completed.
Summer coaching camp begins at Chaibasa
Before going on national assignment as coach to Georgia, Neeraj Mishra will impart training to junior players of Chaibasa summer camp which started on Monday at Sitaram Rungta Recreation Hall.
The Summer camp is being organized by the West Singhbhum District Chess Association. Basant Khandelwal, general secretary of the association said that 27 junior players of the region are participating in the summer camp.
District champion Manish Sharma, and senior-rated player Biswajit Chatterjee are guiding the players in the camp. “Despite a busy schedule IM Neeraj Mishra has agreed to attend the camp for two days and give tips to participants,” said Khandelwal.
WSDCA president Mukund Rungta, secretary Basant Khandelwal, Seraikela District Chess Association general secretary Ajay Kumar, International Arbiter Jayant Bhuyan, first treasurer of state chess association and former Dhanbad District Chess Association secretary Arvind Kumar Sinha have congratulated Neeraj Mishra for his new assignment.
