Ranchi, May 22: Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K. Ravi Kumar on Thursday announced that the Special Intensive Revision of the state’s electoral roll will begin from June 20, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) carrying out door-to-door voter verification across all polling station areas.

Addressing a one-day orientation programme and press conference for media representatives at Nirvachan Sadan, the CEO said the exercise aims to ensure that no eligible Indian citizen is left out of the voter list.
Training and verification work from June 20
According to the schedule, preparatory work, training, and printing activities will be conducted between June 20 and June 29. From June 30 to July 29, BLOs will distribute enumeration forms and verify voters through household visits. The draft electoral roll will be published on August 5.

The period for filing claims and objections will continue from August 5 to September 4, while disposal of claims and objections will be completed by October 3. The final electoral roll will be released on October 7. The qualifying date for the revision exercise has been fixed as October 1, 2026.
No voter deletion without proper hearing
Ravi Kumar said applications from new voters, along with claims and objections, will also be collected during the door-to-door verification drive. Special camps will be organised for voters who cannot be contacted directly by BLOs.
The CEO clarified that no voter’s name will be deleted without a proper hearing and urged citizens not to believe misleading information. He also stressed that the revision process is meant only for Indian citizens and that foreign nationals will not be included in the electoral roll.
Appeal for public cooperation
He appealed to voters, media representatives, election officials, and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of recognised political parties to cooperate in making the electoral roll cleaner, inclusive, and error-free.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Subodh Kumar, Training Nodal Officer Dev Das Datta, Deputy Election Officer Dheeraj Thakur, and Junior Election Officer Sunil Kumar were present during the programme.
