Ranchi, May 25: The ED today issued a second summons to IAS officer Manish Ranjan asking him to appear on May 28.
Earlier, Manish Ranjan, former secretary of the State Rural Development Department and currently secretary of the Revenue and Building Construction Departments, did not reach the ED office on Friday (May 24).
However, he sought three weeks to appear before the ED citing his responsibility for the security arrangements and protocol during the proposed election tours of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The ED had also asked Manish for details of his and his dependents’ bank accounts and movable and immovable properties. He had also asked for time to gather this information.
However, the ED has rejected his plea and asked him to appear on May 28.

Notably, the ED wants to interrogate Ranjan after his name was mentioned in a list of persons among whom the commissions collected for awarding contracts were distributed was recovered from the premises of Jehangir Alam and Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam’s PS Sanjeev Lal’s house.
The ED has already arrested the minister along with Sanjeev and Jehangir after it recovered Rs 37.5 crore from the premises linked to them.
