New Delhi, March 12: For the third consecutive day, the opposition raised the issue of the voter list in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
Deputy Chairman Harivansh stated that he had received nine adjournment notices from Pramod Tiwari, Sanjay Singh, Sagarika Ghose, and others, seeking a discussion on delimitation and the voter list.
However, the Chair rejected all the notices. Protesting the decision, MP Pramod Tiwari asserted that democracy is not just about holding elections.

Pramod Tiwari emphasized that elections must not only be fair but should also appear to be so. He pointed out that the addition of 48 lakh voters in Maharashtra was completely unjustified and warranted a discussion.
TMC’s Derek O’Brien urged the Deputy Chairman to either allow the discussion immediately or schedule it for the following week so that opposition parties could raise concerns over alleged irregularities in the voter list.
