Daltonganj, Dec 22: Under instructions of the JHALSA Ranchi, DLSA Secretary Arpit Srivastav moved into the street last night and gave away blankets to the needy fighting the chill of winter with just their tattered clothes.
The Jharkhand Story correspondent spoke to Arpit Srivastav today, who said, “There had come an instruction from the JHALSA. It was to coordinate with the district administration in regard to the distribution of blankets among the roadside dwellers, destitute and abandoned poor.”
“I made out two teams. I led one. The other was of the CWC. I moved on to the Daltonganj railway station and bus stand. In all, we both distributed 75 blankets,” added Srivastav.

Srivastav further said, “I inspected Ashray Grih. It is under Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojna. It’s a well-managed house for the homeless who are destined to spend the night under the sky. This Ashray Grih offers the warmth of living here.”
Srivastav said, “The sad part is that pavement dwellers and destitute just don’t like to be in this well-furnished Ashray Grih. We need to tell them the administration takes care of them.”
The district social welfare office made the blankets available to the DLSA.
Daltonganj is reeling under acute cold where nights are painfully chilling.
