The Jharkhand Story correspondent spoke to SP Reeshma Ramesan to know how she and her police officers coped with the stress.
Q: There were numerous VVIP movements across the district in the last 5 days. How stressful was it?
A: The VVIP movements were tremendous. One VIP was landing in the north the other in the west. There was no end which was any free of the VIP movements. Our police teams did a good job.
Q: On Monday it was P minus 2 movement. Did the helicopters make it sorties with 9 polling parties for booths in the contiguity of the Burha Pahar?
A: No. There was no air traffic for the 9 polling parties from here on Monday. The helicopter did its sorties today only for the 9 polling parties. We rolled out our huge contingent of the polling parties P minus 2 polling teams by surface transport on Monday itself. It was a huge task well performed by the civil and police officials.
Q: There is a strong apprehension of brawls at some of the booths on the day of polling. If it happens, how prepared are the police here?
A: We are all well prepared. We will crush any such eruption. We have a huge fleet of quick-response teams. Our security officials will be on bikes. We are in a position to deal with any unseemly situation in the shortest possible time. We urge voters not to be swayed by fake or false claims.
Q: Complaints are to pour in on the day of polling. How to go about it?
A: Yes, I agree. Palamu is such a district where there is never any drought of complaints. Complaints are always in abundance. We know how to handle them.

A: There is an SoP laid down by the ECI about the deployment of the CAPF. We have adhered to it in word and spirit. We have one company of resolute force the CoBRa.
Q: What about the fear of the land mines, the past elections were so brutalized by it?
A: Naxalism is definitely on the wane. They are in no position to take on security forces head-on. However, no one can rule out any of their deceits. We are mindful of this.

A: It’s very true. The Vidhan Sabha election is a close fight. The contestants know the strengths and weaknesses of each other. Police are keeping surveillance on all and everywhere.
