THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK
Daltonganj, October 16: Mapping of 2003 electoral rolls with the present electoral roll has focused on electors dead, permanently shifted, registered as elector at more than one place and electors gone trackless and traceless.
It’s the electors gone missing that has been discovered in each of the 5 assembly constituencies in Palamu district.
Daltonganj assembly constituency has a little over 2,000 electors, trackless and traceless.

Hussainabad assembly constituency has 1600 plus electors not found! So is the case with the other assembly constituencies here. Figures vary but trackless persists stubbornly.
Where are these? The neighbours are silent about their whereabouts. What made them vanish into thin air? There is no answer to these queries.

The number of permanently shifted voters is on the upper side in almost each of the 5 assembly constituencies like 5,000 plus in Daltonganj constituency, 3,700 in Chhaterpur assembly constituency, 3,400 plus in Hussainabad assembly constituency etc.
Permanently shifted electors never come. Once gone, gone forever.
Skepticism Over SIR Necessity
Sources said preparations for a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls are challenging here in Palamu.
This correspondent spoke to more than 40 people, cutting across party lines who said, “What is the need for SIR in Palamu? There is no infiltration here. Again, there is hardly any issue of change in demography.”
The Hindus here in Palamu district account for little over 86 per cent as per the 2011 census, while Muslims stagger behind even the scheduled caste, which is little over 27 percent, while Muslims are pegged at little over 12 per cent.
The issue of 3 kids or 2 kids has never gained any currency here despite some right-wing leaders making a frustrated orchestration of a rise in the Muslim population in Palamu, which the majority population trash with the same vigour and conviction.

Categorization of Electors and Preliminary Findings
Data is available for at least 4 categories of electors like born in India before 1.7. 1987, between 1.7.87 and 2.12. 2004, born in India after 2004, and finally born outside India etc.
Acquired citizenship is nil as per the preliminary report available with this correspondent.
The data written above is subject to further scrutiny, but there is no confusion about electors described as dead, permanently shifted, registered at more than one place and getting trackless and traceless etc.
