Parakram Diwas celebrated at historic Gomoh station to honour Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose

Dhanbad, Jan 23: Parakram Diwas, marking the 129th birth anniversary of legendary freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, was celebrated with great reverence and enthusiasm on Thursday evening at the historic Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Gomoh Railway Station under the Dhanbad Division.

The programme was organised by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Ranchi Circle, recognising Gomoh’s immense historical significance in India’s freedom struggle. Gomoh station occupies a special place in history as it was from here that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose made his daring escape in 1941, an event that changed the course of India’s freedom movement.

Prime Minister Pays Tribute via Video Message

On the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the gathering through video conferencing and paid glowing tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, recalling his courage, leadership, and vision of a free and self-reliant India.

INA Legacy Remembered by Son of Veteran Freedom Fighter

The chief guest, Sanjay Chaudhary, INA Trustee Member, while addressing the gathering, said that the life of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose remains a powerful source of inspiration, instilling courage, self-confidence, and a deep sense of service to the nation.

He said that Netaji’s daring efforts for the country’s freedom and the formation of the Azad Hind Fauj continue to inspire citizens to work with dedication while upholding the unity and integrity of the nation.

Sanjay Chaudhary is the son of the late Bharti Chaudhary, a veteran member of the Indian National Army (INA), who passed away recently. His presence at the event added emotional significance to the occasion.

Bharti Chaudhary’s Association with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose

Late Bharti Chaudhary was closely associated with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and actively participated in the activities of the Indian National Army during the freedom struggle. A committed follower of Netaji’s ideals, Bharti Chaudhary dedicated her life to the cause of India’s independence and remained actively involved in preserving the legacy of the INA even after Independence. Her contribution and sacrifice continue to be remembered with respect.

Public Representatives and Officials Pay Floral Tributes

Dhanbad MP Dhullu Mahato, Giridih MP Chandra Prakash Chaudhary, Tundi MLA Mathura Prasad Mahato, Dhanbad Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Akhilesh Mishra, Vibhuti Bhushan Pandey, Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya Gomoh, along with senior divisional officers, addressed the gathering.

All dignitaries paid floral tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and took a collective pledge to protect the unity, integrity, and sovereignty of the nation.

Cultural Programmes and Exhibition Highlight Netaji’s Life

Impressive cultural programmes featuring patriotic songs, dances, and theatrical performances were organised, vividly portraying Netaji’s courage, sacrifice, and patriotism.

A special exhibition at the station showcased rare photographs, historic events, and inspirational messages highlighting Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s life, struggles, and invaluable contribution to India’s freedom movement. The exhibition drew keen interest from passengers, railway employees, and visitors.

Inspiring the Youth and the Nation

The Parakram Diwas celebration at Gomoh emerged as a source of inspiration for passengers, railway employees, and youth, reinforcing the values of courage, self-confidence, and national service.

Parakram Diwas is observed every year on January 23 to honour the legacy of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, one of India’s foremost freedom fighters and the founder of the Indian National Army (INA).
