Paris, August 9: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has announced that hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh will serve as a joint flagbearer alongside shooter Manu Bhaker at the Closing Ceremony of the ongoing Paris Olympics.
IOA President PT Usha mentioned that Sreejesh was an emotional and popular choice for flagbearer, supported by the IOA leadership, including Chef de Mission Gagan Narang, and the entire Indian contingent.

PT Usha mentioned that she spoke with Neeraj Chopra, who won his second consecutive Olympic medal with a silver on Thursday. She appreciated Neeraj for his immediate and gracious support of Sreejesh being chosen as the flagbearer for the Closing Ceremony.
Captain Harmanpreet Singh’s two goals, combined with PR Sreejesh’s seamless saves, earned India a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics with a 2-1 victory over Spain at the Yves du Manoir Stadium on Thursday.
The IOA had previously appointed Manu Bhaker as the female flagbearer following her achievement as the first Indian athlete since Independence to win multiple medals in a single Olympic Games. She earned bronze in both the 10m Air Pistol Women’s event and the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event with Sarabjot Singh.
