Paris, September 2: Indian badminton player Nitesh Kumar on Monday defeated Great Britain’s second-seed Daniel Bethell to win the gold medal in the men’s singles SL3 category at the ongoing Paralympics.
Nitesh secured India’s second gold at the Paris Paralympics after shooter Avani Lekhra won the nation’s first gold in the women’s 10m air rifle event.

In a thrilling match that came down to the final points, Nitesh secured his spot at the top of the podium with a 21-14, 18-21, 23-21 victory over Daniel.
In his previous encounter in the semifinals, Nitesh dominated Japan’s Daisuke Fujihara, winning in straight sets 21-16, 21-12, to secure his place in the final.
