New Delhi, July 22: Proceedings in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were repeatedly disrupted on the second day of the Monsoon Session as the Opposition protested against the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar.
Demands were also raised to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s response under Operation Sindoor.
Both Houses were ultimately adjourned for the day and will reconvene at 11 am on July 23.

Earlier in the day, the Lok Sabha saw repeated disruptions. The session was first adjourned until noon, barely minutes after it began, and was later suspended again until 2 pm amid loud protests. Eventually, the House was adjourned for the entire day.
Chairing the proceedings, BJP MP Jagdambika Pal urging MPs to submit formal proposals instead of holding placards. “Instead of showing placards, you can submit your proposals, resolutions… Why are you worried?” he said.
The Rajya Sabha faced similar scenes, with slogan-shouting and persistent demands for a debate on the Bihar voter list revision.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accused the Opposition of hypocrisy. “They (opposition) are demanding discussion and we are ready for it. Then why are they not allowing the House to function?… You are wasting public money,” he said, criticizing the continued disruptions.
Protesting INDIA bloc leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav, staged a demonstration at the Parliament’s Makar Dwar steps, calling for the SIR to be halted. They carried placards with slogans like “death of democracy” and “stealing of Indian rights.”
