New Delhi, Sept 30: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has put a hold on all No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) for players intending to participate in overseas T20 leagues, a move aimed at linking international league participation to domestic and national performance.
The directive, issued on September 29 by PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmad Syed with the approval of Chairman PCB, comes in the wake of Pakistan’s loss to India in the Asia Cup 2025 final.

Top players such as Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, and Faheem Ashraf, who were expected to feature in tournaments like the Big Bash League and ILT20, are directly impacted by the suspension.

The PCB has indicated that future NOCs may be granted based on a performance-based evaluation system, though the exact criteria and timeline for lifting the suspension have not been disclosed.
The decision also coincides with the upcoming start of Pakistan’s premier domestic first-class competition, which was postponed from September 22 to October.
According to reports, the board’s aim is to incentivize strong performances at both national and domestic levels by making NOC approvals contingent on player evaluations.
